Andorra is a long way from the airport, and that is exactly why people book a car. After a flight, three hours on public transport with luggage or ski bags is a different day from a direct drive. The question is not whether it works, but which vehicle and when to leave.
This page covers the run from the airport. If you start in the city, see Barcelona to Andorra by chauffeur, which also lists the fixed price for that route.
Barcelona airport to Andorra: distance and time
The airport is 199 km from Andorra la Vella, about 2 h 45 min without traffic. Mountain roads, winter weather and queues at the border can lengthen the trip. In ski season, weekend departures and returns are the busiest, so build in extra time.
You can open the route on Google Maps. For border, road and visitor information, check Andorra tourism.
Price: quoted on request
The airport to Andorra transfer is not in my fixed table. I quote it on request, VAT included, after checking the date, the destination and the vehicle. Prices for the standard airport-to-city run and the hourly rates are on the prices page.
Bus, taxi or private driver
Search results for this route are full of coach timetables and price lists. I do not publish them, because schedules change; the operators’ sites are the right source. The airport page at Aena lists official connections.
What a private driver changes:
- No wait for a departure. The car meets you after you land.
- Door to door. The hotel in Andorra la Vella, a chalet or a lift station.
- Ski equipment. Bags and boards go in the vehicle with you. Say in the form how much you carry, so I choose the right one.
- Timing you control. Stops can be agreed on the way if you need them.
Where in Andorra?
“Andorra” can mean the capital or a resort near the French border. The destination changes the time and the quote. Name it in the form. For the border resort, the page on Barcelona to Pas de la Casa has the details from the city.
Vehicles for this route
| Group | Vehicle |
|---|---|
| 1 to 3 passengers | Mercedes E-Class |
| Up to 7 passengers with luggage | Mercedes V-Class |
| Up to 16 passengers | Mercedes Sprinter |
| Up to 33 passengers | Minibus |
| Up to 60 passengers | Coach |
For a group of friends with skis, I would rather book the V-Class or a Sprinter than fit everyone and everything into a car that is only just big enough. Almost three hours is a long time to sit with a ski bag on your lap.
Return to the airport
The return trip needs more planning than the arrival. Tell me your flight time and I work back from the check-in margin you want, allowing for the mountain road and the time of day. Send both dates in one request.
Winter, border and timing
Travelling to Andorra from the coast has three practical points. First, the road climbs into the Pyrenees, and in winter snow or ice can slow the last stretch; the driver adapts speed and route to the conditions on the day. Second, Andorra is not in the European Union, so there is a border post on the way in and out. Carry your passport or ID card, and check current entry rules on the Andorra tourism site before you travel. Third, weekends and school holidays are the busiest periods, so a transfer at an off-peak hour is usually smoother.
None of this changes the booking. It only means that the free-flow time of 2 h 45 min is the best case, and a good plan assumes a little more.
Combining the transfer with hourly hire
Some guests land, drive to Andorra, and want the driver for a day on the spot, for example a shopping day or a visit to a spa. Hourly hire has a 6-hour minimum per day and no maximum, and extra hours are charged at the hourly rate. Ask for both in the same request and I give you one quote.
