A cruise day in Barcelona has a tight shape: the ship arrives, you have a few hours, and the departure time does not move. For a Barcelona cruise port transfer, the question is how to spend those hours well and not lose them to queues and luggage.
Barcelona cruise port transfer: the routes
The routes I am asked about most are short:
- Cruise port to your hotel or apartment. The cruise terminals are 6 km from Plaça de Catalunya, about 15 min without traffic. See the route on Google Maps.
- Cruise port to Barcelona airport. 19 km, about 30 min without traffic. Here is the route.
- Airport to cruise port. The reverse of the above. I have a separate page on the airport to cruise port transfer.
- A day in the city between ship and flight. Passengers who leave the ship in the morning and fly in the evening often book a driver for the day.
The cruise port to or from Barcelona city is priced exactly like the airport transfer: €80 in the E-Class or V-Class, €200 in the Sprinter and €320 in a minibus or coach, VAT included. The S-Class is hourly only. The run between the port and the airport costs the same. Send the date, the ship and terminal if you know them, the destination and the group size.
Cruise pick-up with luggage
The difficulty with cruise transfers is luggage. Passengers disembark with all their bags, and a taxi rank can be slow when several ships are in port. The vehicle I send is sized to your bags, not only to the number of people:
| Vehicle | Passengers |
|---|---|
| Mercedes E-Class | up to 3 |
| Mercedes V-Class | up to 7 |
| Mercedes Sprinter | up to 16 |
| Minibus | up to 33 |
| Coach | up to 60 |
For two people with two cases, the E-Class is enough. For a family of four with large cases, the V-Class is the right choice. For a group from the same ship, the Sprinter, the minibus or the coach keep everyone together.
Tour Barcelona straight from the cruise dock
If you have most of the day, a private driver turns the port into the start of a short tour. I book it as a driver at your disposal, by the hour, with a 6-hour minimum per day. Extra hours are charged at the hourly rate. All prices are in euros and include VAT.
| Vehicle | 6 hours | 8 hours | Each extra hour |
|---|---|---|---|
| E-Class | €470 | €630 | €80 |
| V-Class | €470 | €630 | €80 |
| Sprinter | €610 | €785 | €90 |
| Minibus or coach | €685 | €900 | €110 |
A common plan runs from the port to the Sagrada Família, then to the old town and the seafront, and ends at the airport or back at the ship. Visit times and ticket rules are set by the sites themselves: see the Sagrada Família and Visit Barcelona websites before you decide what to include. My page on private tours with a chauffeur has more routes.
Matching the plan to the ship
Ships have an all-aboard time, and it is the one fixed point of the day. I work backwards from it:
- You tell me the ship’s departure time, or your flight time.
- I agree with you the latest time the driver leaves the last stop.
- I build in a margin for traffic around the port.
- The visits fit between the pick-up and that margin.
If you are going to the airport, the same logic applies with the check-in time. Terminal and flight information is on the Aena site, and the Port of Barcelona site publishes its terminal and cruise information.
Shuttle, taxi or private driver
People who search for this transfer often compare three options: the port shuttle, a taxi from the rank and a private driver. Shuttle and taxi details change, and I do not quote them. The point of a private driver is a fixed meeting place, a vehicle sized to your luggage and one person responsible for your timing. If your group is small and travels light, you may not need it. If you travel with a family, a group or a tight flight, it helps.
Luggage transfer
Some passengers ask for luggage only, for example when the bags go to the airport before the people. That is a different service, and I quote it on request. Describe what you need in the form. The service runs 24/7, so an early or late ship time is not a problem.
How to book
- Open the quote form below.
- Enter the date, the ship or terminal, the destination and the number of passengers and suitcases.
- If you want a tour, add the places you want to see and the time you must be back.
- I reply by e-mail or WhatsApp with the vehicle and the price.
To compare the hourly prices, see prices. For the airport side of the trip, read the airport transfer page, or write through the contact page.
