Lloret de Mar is one of the busiest resort towns on the Costa Brava, and most visitors arrive at Barcelona rather than Girona because the flight options are wider. The drive is 89 km, long enough that a direct private transfer makes sense, especially after a flight and with luggage.
If you are only travelling into the city, the Barcelona airport transfer page has the fixed prices. This page covers the longer run to the coast.
Barcelona airport to Lloret de Mar: distance and time
The distance is 89 km and the free-flow time is about 1 h 15 min. In summer, weekend traffic on the coastal corridor can add considerably, and the same applies to Friday and Sunday afternoons in other seasons. Plan the return to the airport with a clear margin.
You can view the route on Google Maps. For visitor information on the region, see Catalonia tourism.
Price: quoted on request
Lloret de Mar is not in my fixed table, so I quote the transfer on request, VAT included. The price depends on the date, the vehicle and whether you want a one-way or a return. Send the details in the form and the answer comes back by e-mail or WhatsApp. The only fixed airport price is the El Prat to Barcelona run, on the prices page.
Taxi, bus, shuttle or private driver
Search results for this route are full of bus timetables, shuttle products and forum threads. I do not publish those fares or times, because they change and the operators are the right source. The airport page at Aena lists official connections.
A private driver is a different product. The practical differences:
- No changes. You go from arrivals to the hotel or apartment in one vehicle.
- Your timing. The driver waits around your flight, not around a bus departure.
- Space. Suitcases, golf bags and pushchairs travel in the same car.
- Shared by a group. Six or seven travellers can use the V-Class, a larger party the Sprinter or minibus.
Which vehicle to choose
| Group | Vehicle |
|---|---|
| 1 to 3 passengers | Mercedes E-Class |
| Up to 7 passengers | Mercedes V-Class |
| Up to 16 passengers | Mercedes Sprinter |
| Up to 33 passengers | Minibus |
| Up to 60 passengers | Coach |
On an 89 km run, comfort counts. I would not put four adults and four cases in a car that is technically big enough. Take the V-Class.
Other Costa Brava destinations
If your hotel is not in Lloret itself, the same airport pick-up can continue to nearby towns. Ask for a quote and name the destination. For the shorter hops from the city, see Barcelona to Lloret de Mar, Tossa de Mar and the wider Costa Brava transfer.
Ride-hailing, taxis and what to expect
Questions about Uber and taxi costs come up often for this route. I cannot state fares or app rules, because they depend on the operator, the time and local regulation. For official transport information in the region, the Catalan Government is the place to look. A private transfer is simply a different arrangement: the price is agreed before you leave, and the driver is waiting when you arrive.
Timing and season
Lloret de Mar is a summer destination, and the transfer reflects that. In July and August the roads to the coast are busy, particularly on Friday evenings, Saturday mornings and Sunday returns. Outside the season the same drive is calmer. When you book, tell me the date and I plan a departure that avoids the worst of the traffic where I can.
For the return to the airport, add the airline’s recommended check-in margin to the drive time. That margin is the number to protect, not the 1 h 15 min on paper.
How to book
- Open the quote form below or use the contact page.
- Enter your arrival date and flight, the address in Lloret de Mar and the number of passengers and bags.
- Add the return date and flight time if you want both directions.
- I reply by e-mail or WhatsApp with the vehicle and the price, VAT included.
- Confirm and the transfer is booked.
If you want a driver for a full day on the coast, hourly hire starts from a 6-hour minimum per day, as explained on the chauffeur by the hour page.
