A private driver in Barcelona means one thing to most people: a car and a professional driver who are yours for the trip, at a price you know first. I run a small chauffeur service with a Mercedes fleet, and this page explains how it works, what each option costs and how to ask for a quote.
What a private driver means here
You book a vehicle with a driver, either for a transfer (airport to hotel, Barcelona to a nearby town) or for a block of hours. The driver follows your plan, waits while you are in a meeting or on a visit, and changes the route if your day changes.
It is not a ride-hailing service. There is no meter, no surge and no change of price on the day: the figure I confirm is the figure you pay.
Private chauffeur in Barcelona: prices
All prices are in euros and include VAT.
| Hire | E-Class (3) | V-Class (7) | Sprinter (16) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Airport and Barcelona | €80 | €80 | €200 |
| 6 hours at your disposal (daily minimum) | €470 | €470 | €610 |
| 8 hours at your disposal | €630 | €630 | €785 |
| Each additional hour | €80 | €80 | €90 |
The S-Class (up to 3 passengers) is booked by the hour only: €745 for 6 hours, €990 for 8 hours and €125 per extra hour. Larger groups can use the minibus (up to 33) or the coach (up to 60). The full list is on the chauffeur service prices page.
Private driver Barcelona airport
The airport is the most common first booking. The transfer between El Prat and Barcelona is €80 in the E-Class or V-Class, €200 in the Sprinter. Share the flight number and I plan the pick-up. The service runs 24/7, so night landings and early departures are no problem. The cruise port to or from Barcelona has exactly the same price as the airport run. If you are arriving from or leaving for another airport, see the pages on Girona airport and Reus airport.
The operator’s official page is Aena Barcelona-El Prat; the practical details of the run are on my Barcelona airport transfer page.
Private driver for day trips from Barcelona
If you want to leave the city for the day, there are two ways to book:
- Fixed transfer, if you are going one way or only need a drop-off. From Barcelona the E-Class or V-Class costs €135 to Sitges, €135 to Montserrat, €210 to Girona, €235 to PortAventura and €395 to Andorra.
- Hourly hire, if you want the driver to stay with you and take you back. This is usually the better fit for a tour with stops.
Popular day trips:
For a longer destination, such as Valencia or Madrid, I quote on request. Describe the route in the form and you get a confirmed figure back.
Private driver for business
For a business day, the car and driver work as a mobile office: you move between meetings without a taxi queue or parking. More on this is on the business chauffeur page. For congresses and trade fairs, the official Fira calendar is on Fira Barcelona.
What you can check before you book
Many people look for proof before they book a driver. On this site you get the things I can stand behind: the vehicle and its seat count, the price in euros with VAT included, and the booking terms, all written down before you travel. Ask any question in the form and I answer it in the reply.
Choosing the right car
| Group | Car | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 1 to 3 | Mercedes E-Class | The usual choice for business and airport |
| 1 to 3 | Mercedes S-Class | Hourly only |
| 4 to 7 | Mercedes V-Class | Families and small groups |
| 8 to 16 | Mercedes Sprinter | Teams and larger families |
| 17 to 33 | Minibus | Events and groups |
| 34 to 60 | Coach | Large groups |
Car with a driver: transfer or hourly?
The two ways to book work differently, and choosing the right one saves money.
A transfer is one journey from A to B at a fixed price. Use it for the airport, the cruise port, the station or a one-way trip to a nearby town. You are not paying for the time the driver waits, because there is none.
Hourly hire is the car and driver for a block of hours, minimum 6 per day. Use it when you have several stops, when you want to return to the same place, or when you do not know the exact plan in advance.
If you are unsure, send the plan in the form. I tell you which option costs less for what you describe, and I confirm the number in writing.
Why people book a private driver in Barcelona
- Airport arrival. Someone is expecting you, the price is fixed and the car is ready.
- Business days. Several meetings in one day with no time lost on taxis.
- Groups. Everyone travels together, in one vehicle sized to the group.
- Events and weddings. The timing matters more than the route, and a booked driver is part of the plan.
- Day trips. Montserrat, Sitges, Girona, the Costa Brava and PortAventura are all within a day’s reach.
For a larger list of routes, see the pages for PortAventura and Andorra.
Who books a private driver from me
The bookings I handle most fall into a few groups. Business travellers and congress guests want a reliable car between the hotel, the venue and dinner. Families arriving at the airport want one vehicle for everyone. Couples want a quiet, comfortable day out of the city. Event organisers want a vehicle sized to the guest list and a schedule that holds.
In every case the booking begins the same way: a short message with the date, the places and the number of people. I come back with a price that you can accept or change.
