When people search for chauffeur hire in Barcelona, they usually want one of three things: a car and driver for a day of meetings, an evening out, or a day trip outside the city. The common thread is that the driver is yours for the booked hours. You decide where to go, when to stop and when to leave. This page explains how the hire works, what each vehicle costs and how to book.
Chauffeur hire Barcelona: how it works
Hire is by the hour. You pick a vehicle and a number of hours, and the car and driver stay at your disposal for that time.
- Minimum of 6 hours per day. There is no maximum.
- Extra hours are charged at the hourly rate for the vehicle.
- Prices include VAT and are in euros.
- Anything outside the table (other destinations, other dates, several days) is quoted on request.
For a short single journey, a fixed-price transfer is usually cheaper than hourly hire. The airport transfer page covers those. For a full day, hourly hire is the better fit.
Prices by vehicle
| Vehicle | Passengers | 6 hours | 8 hours | Each extra hour |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mercedes E-Class | up to 3 | €470 | €630 | €80 |
| Mercedes S-Class | up to 3 | €745 | €990 | €125 |
| Mercedes V-Class | up to 7 | €470 | €630 | €80 |
| Mercedes Sprinter | up to 16 | €610 | €785 | €90 |
| Minibus | up to 33 | €685 | €900 | €110 |
| Coach | up to 60 | €685 | €900 | €110 |
The S-Class is booked by the hour only. The full table is on the prices page.
Chauffeur hire or car hire?
The autosuggest results for this search are mostly car hire: airport desks, deposits, terminals and comparison sites. That is a different product. With car hire you collect the keys, drive on unfamiliar roads, find parking and bring the car back. With a chauffeur you step in and out.
When a chauffeur makes more sense:
- you want to work, take calls or relax during the journey
- you are drinking, for example on a wine or dinner day
- you have a group, and want one vehicle and one driver
- you do not want to deal with parking, fuel or a return deadline
When car hire may suit better is a trip where you want to drive yourself for several days. That is outside what I offer.
What people book
A day of meetings or a roadshow
An E-Class or V-Class with the driver waiting between appointments. See business chauffeur for how I set it up.
An evening or a special occasion
Premium cars for dinners, theatre and weddings. For weddings see chauffeur service for weddings, and for other occasions events.
A day trip
Montserrat, the Penedès wine country, Sitges, Girona and the Costa Brava are popular. See private tours with a chauffeur. The Penedès wine tour page has a day-trip estimate worked out from this table.
A group
The Sprinter (up to 16), the minibus (up to 33) and the coach (up to 60) are priced on the same table. See Sprinter with driver and coach hire.
Which vehicle?
The E-Class suits one to three people. The S-Class is for guests who want the most space in the back, up to three passengers. The V-Class carries up to seven passengers with luggage at the same price as the E-Class, so it is often the better value once you are four or more. For groups beyond that, choose among the larger vehicles by headcount. If you are unsure, tell me the number of people, bags and the plan, and I suggest one.
Private driver, limousine or executive transport
Other searches for the same service use different words. A private driver is the same format. Limousine hire and executive transport pages explain how those terms map to the fleet.
How the hours are counted
The hours are the time the car and driver are at your disposal. The clock starts at the pick-up time you agree and ends when you are dropped off. If a trip takes you out of the city, the drive each way counts, which is why I show day-trip estimates on the route pages. That estimate is simply hours multiplied by the table, so you can work out any day yourself.
For example, if you book an E-Class for 6 hours, it is €470. If the day runs to 8 hours, it is €630. If you need 9, the ninth hour is charged at €80. There is no premium that appears later. Prices include VAT.
Hiring for a few hours or for the day
The 6-hour minimum applies per day. If you only need a short lift, a fixed transfer is usually the better choice. If you need the vehicle on two days, each day carries its own 6-hour minimum, and several days are quoted on request.
What I need from you to quote
- Date and start time.
- Pick-up address, and where the day ends.
- Number of passengers and bags.
- The plan, even in outline: meetings, a day trip, an event or sightseeing.
- Vehicle preference, if you have one.
With those, I can say which vehicle fits and how many hours to book.
Cheapest, best or luxury?
Searches for this service often add words like cheapest, best or luxury. I do not rank myself against others. What I can say is how the fleet works: the E-Class and V-Class share the lowest hourly rate, the S-Class is the premium option, and the larger vehicles are priced by seat count. The price you see is the price you pay, VAT included. For more on private driving, see the private driver page.
How to book
- Open the quote form below or use the contact page.
- Enter the date, the pick-up address, the number of passengers and the hours you want.
- Say what you plan to do, such as meetings, a day trip or an event.
- I reply by e-mail or WhatsApp with the vehicle and price, VAT included.
- Confirm and the booking is made.
For airport information, the official Aena Barcelona-El Prat page is the place to check. For the city itself, Visit Barcelona lists sights and events that you might build a day around.
